Analysis of flaxseed is controversial. There are many
claims abounding. The most official one comes from the
Flax Council of Canada (see the link on the left).

Apart from the benefits of the omega-3 fatty acids,
flaxseeds are important to low carbohydrate dieters 
because of its very low (if any) available carbohydrates.
